Missions Team
Leader: Tammie Scott and Myra Yates

Our congregation supports a variety of mission projects locally, regionally, and around the globe.   Mission is our way of showing God's love in tangible ways as we reach out in Christ's name.  Our congregation supports several projects through our United Methodist Advance Special Giving program of the General Board of Global Ministries, headquartered in Atlanta.  We also support local missions like the Bluefield Union Mission, the Wade Center, Appalachian Teen Challenge, Abel Crisis Pregnancy Center, and the Gideons.  Throughout the year we engage our congregation in Hands-on Mission projects such as collecting School Supplies for Zimbabwe (through Holston Conference) and Tazewell County Schools (through the Sonshine Celebration).  We also collect shoe boxes with gifts for children through the Operation Christmas Child project of Samaritan's Purse.  In addition to these and other exciting missional efforts, we provide an assistance fund for local folks who are struggling with limited resources.

In 2016 we joined four other congregations from throughout the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church to provide help with a children's ministry on Harbor Island in the Bahamas.  We hope to build on this relationship in future years as we work with Zion Children's Home in that nation.
